Back Home: Feel the Warmth of HOME by Chef Wayan’s Flavours and Stories

Bali often enchants visitors with its stunning landscapes and vibrant culture, but for me, it’s the little moments of kindness that truly make this island special. A warm smile from a stranger or the genuine hospitality that Balinese people so effortlessly share—these gestures of care and connection feel like love, freely given and deeply felt.

At HOME by Chef Wayan, recently revamped, showcasing a stylish dining area with a vibrant blue wall and a cozy bar.

In the heart of Pererenan, HOME by Chef Wayan captures that same spirit of warmth and connection. Recently revamped last month, the venue now exudes a homey and warm ambiance with wooden interiors accented by a bold splash of navy blue, reflecting its focus on ocean-inspired cuisine. Guests can enjoy the new cooling air-conditioned dining room, while the familiar inviting patio, long table, and family-style dining remain, creating the perfect setting for shared moments and meals.

Chef Wayan Kresna Yasa, a culinary visionary with roots in Nusa Penida, brings a heartfelt touch to his craft. Having honed his skills at prestigious culinary schools and Michelin-starred kitchens in the United States, Chef Wayan blends traditional Balinese ingredients with modern techniques, weaving stories into every dish.

Savour Balinese Heritage Through Chef Wayan’s Culinary Masterpieces

Our meal began with the Pomelo Salad, a light and refreshing starter that instantly transported me to evenings spent enjoying rujak on Bukit cliffs with friends. The magic of tamarind brought those sunsets back to life. Then came Ledok Nusa, a creamy and comforting soup topped with fried sambal matah. One bite, and I told my dining companion, “I could have 10 more plates of this.”

The mains were equally mesmerizing. The Seafood Seraten featured perfectly cooked seabass in a delectable Sena Cekuh coconut broth. Even though I was already full, I couldn’t resist pairing it with a spoonful of white rice. The finale, Bebek Se’i, a hay-smoked duck served with a delicate sweet potato purée, was a beautiful blend of textures and flavours—a dish that felt like a warm embrace.

Chef Wayan’s creations go beyond mere nourishment. Each bite evokes memories of his mother’s cooking in Nusa Penida or the vibrant tastes of after-school meals at a warung. It’s a celebration of bumbu, the spice blend that paints his dishes with layers of savory essence and meaning.

At HOME by Chef Wayan, food becomes a bridge to memories—a reminder of where we’ve been and where we belong. With its renewed space and heartfelt cuisine, it’s a place where home is not just a location but a feeling.

If you’re searching for a dining experience that resonates with heart, flavour, and connection, HOME by Chef Wayan is a must-visit destination.
