En Route to Ubud
Knead, pull, bang… and again and again!
Not often you’ll find authentic Chinese hand-pulled noodles in warung or restaurant in Bali. Well, now, in Ubud, you can have a taste of freshly made noodles in an exquisite Bakmi Karet at Fu Shou Noodle Club.
Fu Shou Noodle Club’s Chef-owner Pak Dwi Perkasa, a Sino-Indonesian, has learned with his mum the family recipe of hand-pulled noodles and many other dishes to complement it. The taste of fresh noodles, as opposed to a dried one, is so different. The pronounced egg flavour, the chewy texture and the never-ending strands bring a great mouthfeel that you’ll never get from dried noodles.
Highly recommended, the Bakmi Karet Komplet with Free-range Chicken, Roasted Pork Belly, Pork Charsui and Fried Meatballs, all prepared in-house, of course! Fēicháng hào chī! 2 sizes on offer: Regular at IDR 40.000 or Jumbo at IDR 50.000.
If you go there early enough in the morning, you can see the chef making the noodles by kneading, banging, pulling, and again and again.
A work of art! Beside the noodle dishes, try the homemade Bakso Goreng or their Siomay, smacking good!
It's a tiny restaurant with a small menu, but worth visiting!
