By now, everyone knows Hatten Wines Bali produces some remarkable wines under Bali’s climate. Their research & development department, led by Jeremy Pramana, took it to next level by planting Syrah (and other varieties like Chenin Blanc) in their vineyard in Buleleng on the island's north coast. By doing so, Bali becomes one of the very few S.E. Asia territories to produce Syrah, and we can’t wait to see what James Kalleske, the winemaker, will do with this wonderfully dark, spicy grape varietal grown locally.
Besides being invited to Hatten’s first-ever Syrah harvest, we have been privileged with a degustation of James’ primary Chenin Blanc cuvée. Very promising! Look out for these new flacons in a near future.
